The McMackin Family came to Salem Il. In 1850 where they settled and raised a family. The large home was in the family for generation before it finally was sold and used as a funeral home and later it became several restaurants.
The home has a multitude of stories of death and sadness surrounding the wars and sickness. The most prominent story still today is in the women’s restroom It is told that when women go into a stall that the bathroom door would open and someone walks in and enters the stall next to them and uses the restroom but nobody is ever there.
Strange feelings and other doors opening and slamming and cold chills and sadness overcome people’s emotions. Keys and other objects always disappear and turn up days later elsewhere in the old home.
I’m going to add this one to my list for sure
I’m sorry but the McMackin House is closed and soon may be apartments.
